Manufacturer-Special Prize of the Sponsorship Award 2010 “Work - Safety - Health“ goes to RUD!
The stars of the Swabian family-run business RUD, and its world class product, the “ICE Grade 120 Mecano Program”, are on top again: On 26th March RUD was awarded with a Special Award in the category “Manufacturer Prize” of the Sponsorship Award 2010 of the professional association of raw materials and chemical industry (BG RCI), sector of mining - one of the most coveted Prize Awards of its kind. Consequently, the company has received its fifth Award in series for its revolutionary development the “ICE Chain System”.
On the 26th March 2010 the Sponsorship Award “Work - Safety - Health” was announced by the professional association of raw materials and chemical industry (BG RCI), sector of mining, for the 8th time in the categories Safety Engineering, Health Protection, Organization/Motivation, Manufacturer and Special Activities for apprentices. Here innovative, safety solutions were awarded, which offer an essential contribution to the case of work and health protection. The prize has a far reaching magnetic effect throughout the mining and quarrying industry focused on surface and underground mining, and it is considered as one of the most coveted awards.
The “ICE Grade 120 Mecano System” is a revolutionary chain system of slings for safe lifting and moving of heavy loads. With its so-called “Sceletto-technology” and a novel, patented steel, the system is more robust, cost efficient and ergonomic than its predecessors. The RUD Group is the first chain manufacturer in the world, which has received the approval stamp “D” for Grade 120 by the competent professional association “Metall Nord Süd“.
The innovative “ICE Chain System” from RUD, offers usually heavy equipment in a lightweight construction. The net weight of the “ICE Grade 120 Mecano System” can be reduced as much as 30 percent compared to the comparable solution in the market (Grade 80). This reduction in weight greatly benefits the users who have the need to handle the equipment every day by reducing the amount of hand and back strain - an area often neglected but of enormous importance. In summary, this sustainable development also offers a reduction in raw materials and resource consumption, with a simultaneous improvement in quality and performance, teamed with the outcomes of an occupational safety guarantee. This year's jury, consisting of represen-tatives of the BG RCI, the industry trade union Mining, Chemical and Energy Association (IG BCE) and the industry trade association Mining e.V., were extremely happy to award, the Manu-facturer-Special Prize of the Sponsorship Award 2010 "Work - Safety - Health" to the traditional company RUD. This high award, in addition to four other awards for the “ICE Chain System” only emphasizes once again, that the RUD Group has excelled in its innovativeness and per-formance power.
The “ICE Chain System” boast a specially developed ICE pink powder coating, which shows the effects of temperature in which the chain can be safely used. It is prohibited to use the ICE pink chain in temperatures of more than 300° C. This is clearly displayed by the ICE pink color turning brown-black. The “ICE Chains” must then be taken out of service or sent back to the manu-facturer for maintenance.
The Swabian chain manufacturer RUD has succeeded with its “Chain-Evolution ICE” to develop a high innovative, safety and problem-solving oriented product, which has achieved the re-quirements of the occupational safety and health. With numerous patents and awards (among others Steel Innovation Award 2009, International Design Award 2008 of the state of Baden-Württemberg, finalist at the Innovation Award of German Economy 2009, Innovation Award 2009 of the district of Göttingen) RUD is considered with its revolutionary “ICE Grade 120 Me-cano System” in the sector of modern sling and lashing, lifting, hoist and conveyor technology as a market-leader and the official “top innovator” in its industry.
