Hiawatha, IA, November 1, 2010 – We’re delighted to announce our new website which has been many months in the planning; http://www.erlauusa.com/ will be an easier way for us to get in front of our target audience. The new website’s navigation features include an easy to use menu bar and fewer pages to click through to locate information on the site. We are excited to present the new website design to our customers in an easy-to-use, easy-to-navigate fashion.

One of the advantages of having our own website is that is allows us to modify the information for the market. The newly designed website focuses on products that are more readily available to the market and customer service, but it also incorporates a cleaner, simpler layout that allows the user to quickly locate information with fewer steps.


The new website will be user friendly and will be hyperlinked to the main website, erlau.com as necessary.

With increased awareness of the importance of "away from home" recycling, RUD in conjunction with Glasdon International has developed a suite of recycling bins to suit all applications. Cross contamination of waste streams can result in extra collection costs due to the additional work required to sort the contaminated waste steams. With color coding, shaped apertures and simple graphics, the Glasdon range of recycling bins are a proven and effective method of reducing the costs of recycling.

Paper, Cans, Plastic Bottles and Glass Bottles can all be collected in NEXUS 100, as well as other recyclables, such as Batteries, Mobile Phones, Bottle Tops, CDs and Ink Cartridges.

Walk safely this winter with RUD Shoe Chains!

Working in the winter presents unique challenges for contractors, utility workers, delivery personnel and places where staff work outdoors during the winter months with slippery ice, deep snow and freezing temperatures. Weather-related slips and falls become a serious

hazard as winter conditions often make for wet or icy surfaces outdoors. Falls caused by slipping on ice or snow can cause broken bones and internal injuries, costing companies time and money. More and more companies are taking proactive measure to prevent their employees from being injured; some companies are now providing shoe chains to their employees keeping them safe from slipping and falling in the winter.

Made from case-hardened, high-grade cadmium-plated steel chain links for exceptional grip and designed for secure grip on slippery ground such as ice and snow, the Bergsteiger is a wise investment for anyone that must be out in winter condition. The shoe chains are made up of individually welded chain links to provide extra grip for better traction and vulcanized rubber, which allows for years of reliable use and quick and easy installation. The Bergsteiger is available in four sizes and can be easily slipped on to the footwear as needed. This was the fourth ASLA Expo that we have attended, and it was our best show to date! This year our new National Sales Manager, Neil Elenzweig attended the show. The stars of the Swabian family-run business RUD, and its world class product, the “ICE Grade 120 Mecano Program”, are on top again: On 26th March RUD was awarded with a Special Award in the category “Manufacturer Prize” of the Sponsorship Award 2010 of the professional association of raw materials and chemical industry (BG RCI), sector of mining - one of the most coveted Prize Awards of its kind. Consequently, the company has received its fifth Award in series for its revolutionary development the “ICE Chain System”.

On the 26th March 2010 the Sponsorship Award “Work - Safety - Health” was announced by the professional association of raw materials and chemical industry (BG RCI), sector of mining, for the 8th time in the categories Safety Engineering, Health Protection, Organization/Motivation, Manufacturer and Special Activities for apprentices. Here innovative, safety solutions were awarded, which offer an essential contribution to the case of work and health protection. The prize has a far reaching magnetic effect throughout the mining and quarrying industry focused on surface and underground mining, and it is considered as one of the most coveted awards.

The “ICE Grade 120 Mecano System” is a revolutionary chain system of slings for safe lifting and moving of heavy loads. With its so-called “Sceletto-technology” and a novel, patented steel, the system is more robust, cost efficient and ergonomic than its predecessors. The RUD Group is the first chain manufacturer in the world, which has received the approval stamp “D” for Grade 120 by the competent professional association “Metall Nord Süd“.

The innovative “ICE Chain System” from RUD, offers usually heavy equipment in a lightweight construction. The net weight of the “ICE Grade 120 Mecano System” can be reduced as much as 30 percent compared to the comparable solution in the market (Grade 80). This reduction in weight greatly benefits the users who have the need to handle the equipment every day by reducing the amount of hand and back strain - an area often neglected but of enormous importance. In summary, this sustainable development also offers a reduction in raw materials and resource consumption, with a simultaneous improvement in quality and performance, teamed with the outcomes of an occupational safety guarantee. This year's jury, consisting of represen-tatives of the BG RCI, the industry trade union Mining, Chemical and Energy Association (IG BCE) and the industry trade association Mining e.V., were extremely happy to award, the Manu-facturer-Special Prize of the Sponsorship Award 2010 "Work - Safety - Health" to the traditional company RUD. This high award, in addition to four other awards for the “ICE Chain System” only emphasizes once again, that the RUD Group has excelled in its innovativeness and per-formance power.

The “ICE Chain System” boast a specially developed ICE pink powder coating, which shows the effects of temperature in which the chain can be safely used. It is prohibited to use the ICE pink chain in temperatures of more than 300° C. This is clearly displayed by the ICE pink color turning brown-black. The “ICE Chains” must then be taken out of service or sent back to the manu-facturer for maintenance.

The Swabian chain manufacturer RUD has succeeded with its “Chain-Evolution ICE” to develop a high innovative, safety and problem-solving oriented product, which has achieved the re-quirements of the occupational safety and health. With numerous patents and awards (among others Steel Innovation Award 2009, International Design Award 2008 of the state of Baden-Württemberg, finalist at the Innovation Award of German Economy 2009, Innovation Award 2009 of the district of Göttingen) RUD is considered with its revolutionary “ICE Grade 120 Me-cano System” in the sector of modern sling and lashing, lifting, hoist and conveyor technology as a market-leader and the official “top innovator” in its industry.

RUD Now Offers Four New Sizes of StarPoints®

RUD-Chain, Inc. has developed four new sizes of its popular swivel eyebolt, the StarPoint: VRS-M22; VRS-1/4” 20 UNC; VRS-5/16”-18UNC; VRS-7/16” -14UNC. The smaller UNC sizes were developed to meet the needs of the end-users. The new smaller sizes allow more versatility for lifting smaller loads.

The smaller sizes were developed because OEMs are using these sizes in their manufacturing facilities. For example, the new ¼” size was developed because the OEM was using two - ¼” eyebolts to lift a gear and rotating it 90°. Because any non-vertical lift on an eyebolt seriously diminishes the working load limit the OEM sought out a solution. The solution to this problem is the use of a proper lifting point, such as the RUD StarPoint swivel eyebolt. Prior to using the RUD StarPoint, the OEM was using a substantial amount of standard eyebolts because the eyebolts were being bent and damaged do to misuse. They also discovered that because of broken, busted or misused eyebolts they were breaking or harming the products and/or the machinery; many manufacturing organizations are unaware that the incorrect applications of eyebolts significantly increases the probability of failures no matter how large or small the load. It just made sense for RUD to offer a new size that would help the OEM correct this common problem.

The StarPoint adjusts to the direction of the pull which allows full engagement of the bolt and insures a safe lift. The StarPoint, like all of RUD’s products are forged from high-tensile steel and 100% electromagnetically crack tested. With a smaller thread size than the standard DIN 580 eyebolts and without the need for any additional lifting means, these modern lifting points pay for themselves quickly. The modern design prevents the lifting points and valuable loads from being damaged.
